personally growing up in the U.S. among other
young Filipinos, we noticed a lot of negative energy and apathy towards
the Filipino culture. And we began to
question during our teens, why? What's the reason for all the
negativity?
And we realized, there are a
couple of factors for the negativity. The first and most important
factor for cultural alienation is growing up without the
ability to speak nor understand the national Filipino languages, the languages that make up the Filipino soul with 80+ dialects. Speaking Filipino is not the only factor that defines a Filipino, but it is in any Anthropology course that language aids understanding of a culture, because language is the basis for culture.
Other factors include, growing up with racism, adversity, and
alienation from other Filipinos for being different. I created this site to address
these issues that are important to my soul, and because I
love Filipino celebrities, being related to two of them myself, and I
thought, what better way to promote Filipino pride than through a page
like this? I hope you enjoy it, because it comes del fondo de mi
corazon, from the bottom of my heart. Mabuhay!
